Centaurium erythraea

Description:

Small herbaceous plant; pink flowers, 5 petals, 1 style, 2 stigma, connate at base; opposite leaves spaced along flowering stem; fruit dry, elongated.

Habitat:

"Disturbed area" . . this area had been forested some years back and the trees have not yet rebounded. This particular location is dry and rocky, the only shade being the nearby salal.
