Tachinid Fly

Tachinidae Archytas

Description:

I spotted this large Tachinid Fly in my veggie garden a few day ago, but could not get a photo of it. I managed to get this single shot today before it flew away. It had a beautiful shiny round blue-black abdomen that does not really show well in the photo.

Habitat:

Urban veggie garden.

Thank you for the correction Juan--I did think it looked a little different than the Blue Bottle Fly.

Hi Misako, I don't think this is a Calliphora, it looks like a Tachinidae
