Sarracenia alata
This is a plant that has a group of basal shoots that can grow up to 2 feet tall. Each of these shoots has a liquid in it that attracts insects. Once the insects are inside, the plant closes it's lid. It is a bright green shoot with deep red/purple venation. At maturity the lids can have a red blush.
The plant is known to flourish in marshy areas with little light. These were found lining the creek in a bog. But not found under canopy trees, really only in clearings. They did not appear to survive successfully in full shade.
