Thanks Dan. I've learned a lot about flowers today just by posting these last spottings. I'll begin some Internet research and continue photographing and sharing the plants around me.

Project Noah is a great place to begin your exploration of plant ID.

That's a good question. I'm going to say insects are harder to ID because I believe there are still so many that have yet to be identified. I think it might seem that flowers are harder to ID at first, especially if you don't have any background to draw on. Figuring out where to start could be really difficult. Though some flowers can be very difficult to the species level because there are so many hybrids and cultivars out there. This is a great topic for discussion!

Slipped my mind. I'll update them right now. I got a question for you since I haven't yet explored identifying plants. Would you say identifying flowers is more complicated than insects? or does it just seem that way at first?

I'm not sure of this flower, but if all your recent flower spottings are in a suburban area, you could also add them to the Urban Biodiversity mission.
