This reminds me of a job I had one summer in college. Some days we would spend in a boat, collecting water, mud, plant, and animal samples. Then there were the hours I had to spend staring through a microscope counting organisms in pond water samples.

My interest in micro-life is strictly a personal pursuit, just like astronomy. My ID image is the observatory in my backyard.

Awesome little copepod! We found some absolutely stunning ones in the North Sea, really big too, you didn't need a microscope to see them. They're such neat little things, love it :) I'm interested - do you work with aquatic microorganisms for research or a job?
