A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Egretta garzetta
White, with a long neck. know it is not so clear in the photo but it is the white spot in the middle. Zooming in the photo reveals two egret nests behind.
According to my reference materials ("A Photographic Guide to Birds in the Philippines" by Tim Fisher and Nigel Hicks and "A Naturalist's Guide to Birds of the Philippines by MAia Tanedo et al), egrets live in wetlands, but for some reason, I have been seeing these birds nesting in trees in an empty lot within our gated subdivision.
There's a whole flock of these birds nesting in trees in the empty lot within our gated subdivision. I always drive past them on my way to work. I also see other birds in that area that look like herons or other kinds of egrets.
