Common Green Darner

Anax junius

Description:

Large dragonfly (over 2 inches), green.

Notes:

This poor creature was flopping around on the ground at my office. It clung to my finger so I took it home and took this picture and then put it in a flowerpot to finish dying, which is what I assume is happening.

Could be, but I don't remember its face being very blue, and the poor thing is long gone.

Could it be a Common Green Darner (Anax junius)? It was very large.

I think you're right that it was dying... beautiful picture, though.
