Hover Wasp

Description:

A wasp from the Stenogastrinae subfamily, possibly Parischnogaster species. It's body length is 10 - 17 mm. Reddish brown in color with yellow spots around it's body. The most unique feature of this species and genus is that they have a very long and narrow "waist" between the abdomen and the thorax.

Habitat:

Around the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary where there are plants with hanging vines or twigs, in Sandakan, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 150 m diamter. This type of wasps have a symbiotic relationship with hanging twigs and stick where they make it their resting spot or their larvae nursery by building their nests on it. Just before I took these photographs, there were 3 of them resting on this same twig, but only one stayed behind to be photographed.

Thanks LaurenZarate, it sure is.
That needle-thin waistline is also something to admire about.

Hi MarcoSelis, can you tell whether this is a wasp or an ant alate
based on it's body shape and structure ?
