Blacksaddle Filefish

Paraluteres prionurus

Description:

Easily identified by the black "saddles" on its back and the yellow tail. They occur either in pairs or in schools. This guy was in a pair, but the photo where I got both of them came out blurry! They are actually a mimic of the saddled pufferfish, which is highly poisonous (these guys aren't!).

Habitat:

Coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific

Notes:

I saw a few of these guys, mostly in pairs. Going through old dive photos, which I didn't think were very good because they were taken on my old camera.
