Description:

Detail of marine wood borer damage on a coastal Casuarina sp. tree felled by encroaching waves. These borers likely included "ship worms" (bivalve molluscs of the Family Teredinidae) and the smaller "gribbles" (isopods of the family Limnoriidae, therefore arthropods).

Habitat:

Intertidal ocean beach.
