anyone have a clue as to what this is?! i believe its a coral but never seen anything like it up in these neck of the woods....i even wonder if it was dead or alive when i was taken the pictures of it....

too bad I didn't keep the little frag...was about 2-3" tall...

The best I can figure happened is that this was dug up by a deep netting op, and somehow got washed ashore. They are not commonly found in shallow water, and are not known to wash up very frequently. This is a very lucky find if the ID is correct.

It appears to be coral, however, I am really unsure of what species. It appears to be some sort of "Bamboo" coral...
