Capra hircus laniger
I would describe them as the Changthangi goats, because I found them in the Changthang valley, Ladhak. The Changthangi or Pashmina goat is found in Ladakh and Baltistan (Kashmir region). They are raised for meat and cashmere production and used as pack animals. The breed is most often white but black, gray and brown animals also occur. They have large twisting horns.
Adapt well to the mountainous terrains, valleys and semi - deserts and where temperatures plunge as low as −20 °C.
They looked beautiful against the the marvelous backdrop of the vast picturesque mountainous area. Found them grazing along with the cows, sheep and the horses!
