American carrion beetle

Description:

Beetle with pale ivory pronotum with large black spot in middle. Abdomen not covered entirely by elytra. According to bugguide.net, "Adults consume fly larvae (maggots) at carrion, as well as some carrion."

Habitat:

Found on my mop, drying outside my house. Suburban backyard.

That looks right to me. Thanks Juan! Now, what does that mean for the state of my mop, that a carrion beetle was attracted to it?! Yikes!
