Polybia occidentalis

Description:

Less than one inch in size. Two yellow stripes on the abdomen and 3 on the tail. The sting and always make the nest about head high! I have seen nests that range in size from a silver dollar to a cantalope.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest of NW Costa Rica.

Notes:

Three different nests in various sizes. Each one is on the underside of a mature bismarck palm.
