Beetle found crawling on lichen-covered rocks. ~2.5 cm long. Can anyone ID this beetle for me?

Perhaps a dung beetle? The body shape looks similar to me, though I admit that I haven't had much exposure to the dung beetles: http://bugguide.net/node/view/2950.
