Spotting

Description:

Iridescent green (wasp?) in unknown blooming vine (morning glory?) going into the flower and then flying to the next flower on the same vine. The flower is less than thumb size.

Habitat:

Open sun in SW Alabama on grape arbor Flomaton - zip 36441

Notes:

Obviously a major pollinator for this vine. It is suggested this is a Cuckoo Wasp and could very well be after I researched it in response. The eyes in pictures of Cuckoo wasps seem to be round whereas this one has elongated eye (or maybe just a side view?). Maybe it's a youngster and eyes will become rounder as an adult. How big are Cuckoo wasps?

Not a cuckoo wasp (although they are both beautiful metallic green) - but a bee. Try the family Halictidae.

Nice find VinceLauria! It may ba a Cuckoo wasp. Since it is an insect you shoud change it from Others to Arthropods category.
