Spotting

Description:

Gelatinous radially symmetric disk. Six main lobes, each slightly divided for total of 12 lobes. About 5/16 inch (8 mm) diameter by about 1/16 inch (2.5 mm) thick. Appearance similar from other side. Slight appearance of darker material on interior surrounded by more transparent material. Black to dark brown.

Habitat:

Found in unused bowl of fresh water behind home near Dallas, Texas, 7 October, 2011. Found together with about six similar objects or organisms. If this is or was a living thing, as it looked, I assume that this was not its natural habitat.

Notes:

Objects appeared not to move. Left alone outside in bowl where found, gradually disintegrated over next few days.
