Northern Paper Wasp

Polystes fuscatus

Description:

Very large wasp. With great coloring. Approx. 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 inches. Lovely positions. So nice of the wasp to cooperate.

Habitat:

On the outer workshop/garage near the meadow in the Poconos.

Notes:

And then my battery died because I was using the flash! (But second spotting an hour later.)

Great close up! Was it collecting water or soil as I watched one here in the garden for hours making mud capsules , very aptly named a Potter Wasp http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/770...
