When I found this bug hovering over colourful flowers in a nearby park I confused it with a bee but it has a very gentle behaviour although the mimicry of a bee can be advantageous to them signalling potential predators to stay away to avoid a sting. Luckily the photograph shows the left wing planar view showing vein pattern that can be used to identify the species
