Description:

Trachylepis is a genus of skinks found mainly in Africa. Most species of skinks have no pronounced neck and their legs are relatively small. This specimen was about 20 cm long.

Habitat:

This species is widely distributed in sub-Saharan Africa. Spotted here on a fence on the small island of Chumbe just off the Tanzanian coast.

Notes:
