Description:

A Common Whitetail dragonfly, a member of the skimmer family of dragonflies. This individual is a female, as indicated by its brown body and mid-wing brownish-black bands that do not go edge-to-edge on its translucent wings. (Males have a white abdomen and mid-wing brownish-black bands that go edge-to-edge on its translucent wings.) Habitat:
