Spotted eagle ray

Description:

This photo has been taken at -30 ft In a shallow caribbean reef. One of the most beautiful rays we have them in the winter arriving late October when the water gets colder and stay to late April.

Habitat:

The spotted eagle ray is distributed in the tropical areas of all oceans, including the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Eagle rays feed on mollusks and crustaceans, crushing their shells with their flattened teeth.

Wow, we have these on Maui. I chose the species for my project report in college marine science class; even wrote a song about them.
