Bison bison
We had just strapped on our skis and started heading out along a snow covered road when we came head to head with a big herd of Bison. It was like a Mexican stand-off, both groups stopped dead, staring at each other, not quite sure what to do. The bison obviously thought that detouring off the road would be too hard work, but they were too nervous to come towards us. We stood on the edge of the road and just waited. One brave bison finally led the way and one by one, 20 or so Bison edged past us. They passed less than a metre from me and at that stage I don't know who was more nervous! It was an amazing experience.
