Limnanthes douglasii
low-growing herbaceous plant with five-petaled flowers of white with yellow center
in grass; on the borders of temperate rain forest and oak savannah
I hope to see this in person. Im not sure if it thrives in tropical places but yeah, this plant is so beautiful.
Looking on the web now that I know its ID, I find that its been taken to Europe and used as a garden plant. Good idea. It isn't native to very much of Oregon, just the southwest interior, so I hadn't seen it before.
Hey Shebe. Yeah i knew this since a friend gave me a book last week and i was struck by its common name. No prob :)
Thanks, Jerzer; looks like you hit the nail on the head! What an apt name for the flower.
