Eastern Garter Snake

Thamnophis sirtalis

Notes:

Spotted this little Eastern Garter Snake while at camp this summer. He popped up between the rocks near the shore, then didn't dare to move. It stood frozen for nearly a minute before it decided that I wasn't going to cause any harm. This snake was approximately 18" in length.
