Coast Redwood

Sequoia sempervirens

Description:

Coastal Redwood - no existing roots, hangs from a nurse tree.

Notes:

This specific tree has no conventional root system. The roots were burnt in a fire and it has fully joined itself to the "nurse" tree next to it. The tree hanging in mid-air is massive and is a complete wonder that it hangs on its own from another larger tree.
