WA Flowering gum

Corymbia Ficifolia

Description:

Medium size eucalyptus with large clusters of spectacular red-pink flowers.

Habitat:

Originally from Western Australia but will grow in average to poor soils and under fairly dry conditions.

Notes:

I couldn't resist these because I have never seen such prolific displays of flowers as this year. The season must have been just perfect for them. These shots show the flowers in various stages of opening. Insects of all sorts were queuing up to get at them.
