Oleander Moth

Syntomedia epilais

Description:

Adult moth is dark metallic blue with white polka-dots on the wings and body with a red-tipped abdomen. Caterpillars are orange with black tufts of hair.

Habitat:

Caterpillars are a common on the Oleander tree and adults can be found nectaring nearby.

Notes:

The Oleander Moth is also known as the Uncle Sam Moth, the Polka-dot wasp moth, the Patriotic bug, and the Pest of Oleanders! They are day fliers and the young feed on the leaves of the Oleander tree.

Fabulous colors, spotting and info! Are all of the photos at the same time and location (close to one another)? If not you should probably make separate spottings even if the photos represent the same species. Spottings are really an observation session of a species. When they capture development of the same individual(s) then it is probably all right to have different times covered. Thanks
