Description:

Red growth I believe to be tree roots sway in the creek. There are Salix trees along this creek.

Habitat:

Creek feeding Lake Hodges at Mule Hill trail.

:) You're welcome. I searched for "wild" aquatic plants in your area and didn't see anything like yours. Maybe the ID of the tree will help. Good luck!

Roots usually are brown in color. Looks very much like roots.
My spotting however looks more like some water plant
