Glaucidium californicum
This tiny owl swooped down in front of me and plucked this Bohemian Waxwing out of the air and struggled to make it to the branch about 40 feet away. All this happened within 15 -20 ft of my person and in a flash. I ran to get my wife to take a picture and her and a friend took these.

samizv , The owl flew directly into the waxwing and grabbed onto it with both clawed feet. It did follow custom as well and began lunch by eating the brain first.
beautiful series Bill, great cache, congrats thanks for sharing
What?! How did it catch that?
wow!
Great spotting, Bill!
Very nice! surprising how you could approach the owl so closely. And let me please advice phone number 4 because it gives a complete view of the owl and the prey. The whole layout is just great.
Wow, it doesn't eat light, does it? :)
Lovely series Bill!
Can I suggest you make photo 5 the main image as I think you will get more people stopping by to view your spotting that way. You can change the order in edit by dragging & dropping images.
Nice series Bill Baerg
I know that the Waxwing weighed more than the Owl
