Marmota flaviventris
These marmots have grizzled coats with rusty browns on chest, tail, and legs. The nose is a grayish white with speckles of darker hair. Feet are well-furred and ears are small and rounded. Weight varies greatly by time of year with the marmots being heavies just before going into hibernation. Males are marginally larger than females on average.
High alpine meadows and subalpine areas in rocks with small neighboring meadows where they can graze on grasses and forbs.
