Dysdercus poecilus
I ran across a pair of mating bugs while hiking.
Spotted in an open trail with many rocks and wild plants while hiking.
Thanks for confirming John! I will update it as soon as I get suggestions but it will take some time since I am asleep during the day because I'm on night shift 😅
Hi kirkybit, well done! I can see that you are beginning tio do very well in Project Noah. When you update this spotting, you might want to mention that your photo shows a mating pair of bugs. That makes the spotting more interesting.
Hi kirkybit, as you can see, from my Species ID Suggestion, I think you have identified this bug correctly. May I suggest that you update your spotting as soon as you can because, until you do that, other PN members will see it on the "Needs ID" list and might start searching for an ID that you already have. As soon as you update your spotting, it will be removed from that list and no one will spend time on it unnecessarily. However, don;t worry because, if my suggestion (and, of course, your own thoughts) prove to be wrong, it will almost certainly be noticed and an alternative ID will be suggested.
