weevils

Description:

Small (8-10mm) weevils

Habitat:

Spotted in a large semi-urban yard & garden near a disturbed patch of remnant forest in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Notes:

This weevil is very abundant here and is a voracious herbivore, having scarred many ornamentals at this location. A tortoise hell beetle is seen sharing the same leaf in the 2nd photograph.
