Description:

A female Andean condor, photographed at the Calgary Zoo.

Habitat:

Found in the Andes mountains and adjacent Pacific coasts of western South America, it has the largest wingspan (at 3.2 m or 10.5 ft) of any land bird. Listed as near-extinction.

Fabulous spot!
I had a very close encounter with a condor in a small restaurant in Cusco, Peru many years ago - the owners had rescued it as a chick & although it was free to fly, it hung around the restaurant most of the time & would steal food from plates - clearing the table of diners!
