Plant Hopper

Description:

Largest plant/leaf hopper I have seen...enormous. It measures nearly 1/2" long. It was attracted to a street lamp. Shot taken at night.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica half way through the six month dry season.

definitely a leafhopper....setose (hairy) hind legs are characteristic of family Cicadellidae
