These fruits should be eaten while fully ripe. The latex abundant in raw fruits are harmful
Also, this plant belongs to Apocyanace..many poisonous plants are members of it..
However this genus is edible.
In India pickle is made from the fruits of the species C. carandas

ya...once in a while I taste one or two..its tart in taste...then there is a characteristic aroma that's not very pleasant to me..
In Africa, its sold in local markets
