Eastern Red-backed Salamanders

Plethodon cinerus

Description:

About 5cm in length. The tail is blunt like it is missing the tip. Has a straight-edged red stripe down the middle of its back.

Habitat:

Found under a rock, burrowed slightly, in a wooded area.

Notes:

Salamander was burrowed in the ground with only the tail sticking out. It started to move once it was in my hand with exposure to the sun.
