The adult is a small, dark beetle, about 2 - 3 mm in body lenght, with long antennae and two pairs of large pale spots on the elytra. This is a regular minor pest on a number of different crops including Cucurbutaceae and grapevine; closely related species in Africa, Autralia feed on maize, Citrus, various stone fruits, cotton, groundnut, mango and cashew. The adult beetles eat holes in leaf lamina.
Habitat / Crop(s) damaged: maize, sorghum, ragi, cowpea, and several other plants. Presence of small holes on the leaves is a characteristic symptom of damage. It is found from India through South East Asia, to South China and the Philippines.
