Large Mud-nest Wasp

Abispa ephippium

Notes:

My husband, Nathan, spotted this Large Mud-Nest Wasp (or Hornet) drinking from our fishpond. These solitary wasps build mud nests, then catch caterpillars and take them back to the nest to feed their larvae.
