Chauna torquata
Of brown-gray dark color with some white spots, loggerhead and topetuda. The neck is surrounded by a black collar highlighted by a second white fluff. The upper surface of the wing is black with large white area visible during flight, the underside of the wing is completely white. Perioftálmica region, naked ring around the neck (not always visible), legs are red. There is no sexual dimorphism, females are smaller than males. The legs are short and strong and the three front toes are joined by a rudimentary webbing. Average height of 80 cm and weight around 4kg. Great inhabitant of swamps, with format and unique features. The body, legs and feet are huge relative to the head, small and with a plume on his neck. In flight, it shows a large white area under the wing. It has a red spur in the elbow wing, visible when guest or flying.
It can be found in the Midwest and southern Brazil.
