Conehead Katydid

Neoconocephalus robustus

Description:

An all green bug about 2 in long. It has long jointed hopping legs that make it resemble a grasshopper, but its head is pointed instead round, and it is actually a type of katydid. The Conehead can fly very well.

Notes:

We found two of these guys about equal size on the brick outer wall of our house at night. Like many insects, they are attracted to light. The two were flying around the porch light and resting on various surfaces. However, they did not seem to have any type of interaction with each other.
