Meadowhawk Dragonfly

Sympetrum sp.

Meadowhawks are generally difficult to tell apart without them being in hand and being examined with a handlens. This particular individual is undoubtly a male with its bright red coloration. About 4 cm in length.

Habitat:

Ponds and their periphery for breeding, but I also find them in upland grasslands as well as on forest edges.
