Eastern Teaberry

Gaultheria procumbens

Description:

A modest plant with lovely white fruits which reminded me of Monotropa uniflora, the Indian Pipes, in which is in the same family as Vaccinium sp. (Blueberries), Ericaceae. Eureka, this species is also a member of the same family, which explains the similarity of the fruits to Monotropa uniflora, and the similarity of the leaves to Vaccinium sp.

Habitat:

Found in a deciduous/coniferous forest near a forested swam.

Notes:

Lifer!
