Rosemary

Rosmarinus officinalis

Description:

Aromatic, evergreen shrub with twisted stem and slender branches with small, slender leaves that are slightly glossy on top and silvery beneath. Small biue flowers.

Habitat:

Sun. Well-drained soil. Will take some shade.

Notes:

Rosemary's name is based on Latin words meaning "dew of the sea", in reference to its favorite habitat near salty sea spray. Traditionally, rosemary was a symbol of friendship, love, and fidelity. Greeks thought it strengthened brain and memory. The use of rosemary as a culinary, cosmetic, and medicinal herb goes back to ancient times.
