Hey Nicola, I'm not convinced this is elegans - looks more like me to be I. evansi as elegans is more Europe based but evansi ranges around the Arabian peninsula. You are very right about the amount of time people spend inside malls when they can enjoy the beauty of nature outdoors :) BTW, are you on FB. I really like your photo collection and interest. Do hook up if you are..... Thx, Ajmal

Hi Nicole, this is an invasive species of tree on the Arabian peninsula introduced by humans. Prosopis juliflora is it's scientific name and it literally gulps down water as its roots are one of the longest reaching in the tree world and can reach down to deep water tables. Prosopis cineraria or Ghaf in Arabic (it's local cousin) is indigenous to the Arabian peninsula. Google it out :)

The most plentiful are Adesmia spp. beetles and the loner is a Rack beetle (Tentyrina palmera or something, cant remember the spelling) :)

Hi Nicole, interesting. This is possibly a male earwig judging by the curved cerci (females have cerci that meet or are straight). Possbly Labiduridae??? I've seen a similar sp. in Dubai
