Looks like a common pauraque to me, an insectivorous nocturnal bird related to whipoorwills and goatsuckers that is found in parts of Mexico, Central and South America. They have a great call that you can hear on the website above.

This is a common ornamental leguminous tree planted all over the tropics and warm subtropics (e.g. Florida). It is native to Madagascar!
