Welcome! A crab expert who followed Nicky Bay's photo expedition to Tawau photographed this too and identified it as Geosesarma sabanum in his research paper.

Indeed it is a weird name but this name is more accurate than the more used common name "white fig" which is confusing.

Everyone can do extensive ID research. You don't have to be a ranger! Haha. But really good to have one more species resolved in PN. Thousands more to go.

This one was really dry and lack of flesh so I didn't try tasting it. I usually try the juicy and fleshy ones.
