The fly is probably a Tachinid, based on the wing venation and the spines of the abdomen. Unusual color though.
Yes! Breathtaking all of them! What a wonderful experience and so many neat trips! I was thinking of you the other day when we stopped to take pictures because there were so many butterflies and I couldn't get close to them. You would have gotten great pictures!
