Sign In to followLooks like some kind of Velvet Ant ( which are basically wingless wasps ). I don't know if all, but some do have a painful sting.
Agree with Paul. Looks similar to Lycorma delicatula nymphs I found online.

It's one of the Buckeye butterflies. Probably Common, but not sure, I think all three occur in that area.

The species native to the eastern US is American Sweetgum.
I don't know if there are other introduced species present in the area???

Where was it? Maybe a Greenhouse Frog ( Eleutherodactylus planirostris ) they normally live in garden soil or potted plants. I have a bunch in my large potted plants on my porch.
These are very common on outside walls here around Miami. See my third photo for the caterpillar.
