A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Thank you bayucca! Please bear with me, I have a great love for photography and am very novice when it comes to identifying creatures by their scientific names. I really do appreciate you taking the time out to educate me on the matter. :)
Thanks so much for the compliment armadeus! I feel so fortunate to have been in a position to spend the amount of time I did with this absolutely stunning moth. I was really worried I hadn't quite captured its beauty, so for you to say what you did really made me happy! :D
Hi there! Yes, a very large spider. I've seen bigger here, but this was the closest to me and in the best light that I've found so far. Golden orbs seem to favour blending into their backgrounds and this choose darker areas out of direct sunlight to do so...well at least that seems like the trend here in Taiwan.
I'm from South Africa, but am a mixture of English, Irish, Welsh, Dutch, German, French and Spanish.
Where are you located?
I think you just nailed it Leuba! I've been trying to think what this reminds me of since I saw it. Melting metal! TOTALLY.
Yes the green ones are what I am familiar with. In Taiwan we have them singing from the tree tops every summer...in LARGE numbers. I am curious if this variety is endemic to your area. Guess it's time for me to start doing some research now ;)
Hi Jim! Thanks so much for the positive ID. While I didn't know the name of the moth, I do however know that this is a lavender flower :) together the mystery is solved! Thanks again :D
Thank you to all for your kind words. :)
Wow! Never seen one like this before. Great spotting!
